Armour of God prayer
+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord, help us to be strong in You and in Your mighty power today, as we put on the full armour of God, so that we can take our stand against the devil’s schemes. For we know our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, authorities, and powers of this dark world where we live, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
So, we put on the full armour of God, so that when evil comes, we will stand our ground, and after we have done everything, we'll keep on standing.
We stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around our waist, girding our loins, protecting and strengthening our core; our inner being will be governed by integrity and we shall be free from all fear;
We buckle on the breastplate of righteousness to protect our hearts and emotions from all that is unholy. Let no impure or wrong thinking take root; purify and refine us as You see fit Lord;
We stand ready and prepared with our feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Ready for battle, ready to share the Peace, the Good News of Jesus' love, wherever You send us today, Lord. Your Peace is our firm foundation, the ground beneath our feet; we will not be shaken;
In addition to all this, we take up the shield of faith, with which we extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Help us to wield it wisely, Lord, and strengthen our arms, so the darts of the enemy - of wickedness, fear, sickness, confusion, inadequacy or doubt cannot harm us. Faith comes from hearing Your word, Lord, so we hear You Lord;
We see you Lord, as we look to You only, and take the helmet of salvation to protect our minds. Give us the mind of Christ, Lord as we take captive every thought and make it obedient to You. We will be transformed as our minds are renewed. We love you Lord and know we are Yours because You saved us.
And now we stand ready to take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. We soak ourselves in Your Word today, Lord, let it be as meat and bread to us. Help us to be open and obedient to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and to cooperate in wielding His sword effectively. Help us to remember to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests, to be alert and to keep on praying for all the Lord’s people; that whenever we speak, words may be given us so that we will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which we are ambassadors. We pray that we may declare it fearlessly, as we should.
We rejoice in You, Lord and Praise Your Holy Name. May the praise of God be in our mouths and a double-edged sword in our hands!
