In the name of the Father of light,
in the name of the Son who walks the road,
in the name of the Spirit, living spring.
Christ be with me in the dry land,
Christ be within me in the parched heart,
Christ be beneath me on the hard path,
Christ be above me in the wide sky,
Christ beside me on the wandering way.
As You send waters into the wilderness, O Lord,
send mercy into my need.
As You make a way in the desert,
make straight my steps.
If this be the place You have set me,
give me peace within it.
If this be the road You call me to walk,
keep my feet from straying.
What I hold too tightly,
I loose into Your hands.
What I fear in the wasteland,
turn into a well of grace.
Teach me Your way, O Faithful One;
give me an undivided heart to honour Your Name.
Let joy rest upon me,
and let sorrow and sighing flee.
Be my light on the path,
my peace in the wilderness,
and my song on the journey.
Amen.
